About

Nurture your roots

What does 'root' mean to you? Centered Roots Wellness is grounded in the belief that we all, as humans, have metaphorical roots. Like a plant, our roots can help us feel secure, steady, and centered. There are inner roots that provide a foundation for a sturdy sense-of-self and there are outer roots that can offer a sense of who we are in connection to our relationships, communities, and culture. When our inner and outer roots are established, we have the opportunity to grow and thrive to our fullest potential. Psychotherapy, mind-body focused treatment, and other healing & wellness approaches are a lot like the elements that nurture a budding plant. In our therapeutic relationship, we will collaborate as the nurturing gardeners for your roots. We will decide what approaches, such as psychotherapy, yoga, and mindfulness, will feel best for your healing and growth. Throughout your treatment, I will continue to remain alongside you with patience, guidance, and consistent care. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . About Me: I am Alexandria Grazia Salerno, founder and practicing clinician of Centered Roots Wellness. Thank you for taking time to consider your needs and see if we might be a good fit to work together. I practice as a licensed clinical psychologist (Psy.D.) and registered yoga teacher (RYT 200). Much of my clinical work has been centered around the support of individuals of all ages, families, and communities who represent a variety of personal backgrounds, access to resources, and clinical needs. It is an honor to be alongside those who seek out and dedicate themselves to their healing and are looking towards greater life fulfillment and wellbeing or, simply, a sense of comfort and relief through life’s challenges. My approach to treatment tends to be integrated- grounded in your story and the relationships in your life. Within this frame, I also pay mind to how you take care of yourself and how you are taken care of by others and your environment. Each of these aspects of your life are important to your overall wellbeing. As a complement to psychotherapy, I often offer mind-body focused practices to support a well-rounded approach to healing and growth. This could be yoga and movement, mindfulness and forms of meditation, and/or adjustments to your daily routines. Personally and professionally, I’ve found that talk-therapy alone has its limitations and at times, it’s best to move into an approach that encompasses both mind and body. I will do my best to make each practice accessible and comfortable to you and intend to create open communication so I can best meet your needs. I believe the more we understand ourselves, our connections with others and the environment around us, the better we can be at caring for our needs and the needs of others in a healthy way. In treatment, we will start by building a safe and trusting foundation in our relationship. We will gradually work through uncovering past and present experiences that are most relevant to your growth and healing. You will likely encounter thoughts, feelings, and memories that may challenge and make you feel uncomfortable at times; this is an important part of the treatment process. Throughout your time in therapy, my main priority is to provide a safe and inviting space for you (and us) to explore these areas of your life. My hope is that overtime you will feel comfortable in this exploration and will begin to know yourself, and your roots, in a way that allows for change, growth, healing, and everything in between. Please know that at any point along the way in your treatment, we can pause, slow down, focus-in, and tend to any areas that might need more nurturing. Our process will be collaborative and your course of therapy will adjust as-needed. I’m here for you. I look forward to our time together.
